What is the purpose of a prescaler circuit?
What is the purpose of a prescaler circuit?
Divides an HF signal so that a low-frequency counter can display the operating frequency.
From salvyhead: Mnemonic: think of -divisions- on a -scale-.
Generally, the prescaler circuit drops the HF signal to an operating frequency at a lower level. If you start with 32 MHz but need only 8 MHz, the prescaler circuit will divide by 4 the 32 MHz signal

What does the term “BCD” mean?
What does the term “BCD” mean?
Binary coded decimal.
Our numeric system uses 10 digits, 0 through 9. A binary uses only 2, 0 and 1. When you convert a decimal system's number into a binary, you end up with a binary coded decimal.
See Wikipedia's article Binary-coded decimal

What integrated circuit device converts an analog signal to a digital signal?
What integrated circuit device converts an analog signal to a digital signal?
ADC
From kj6prf:
ADC stands for "Analog to Digital Converter."
Modems used to dial up to AOL in days past, were actually converting digital signals to analog. Modems facilitated sending digital signals over analog lines. If a device converts digital to analog, it is a DAC, but if it converts analog to digital, it is an ADC.
See Wikipedia's article on Digital-to-analog converter and

In binary numbers, how would you note the quantity TWO?
0010
From kb9lth:
Binary is represented by only numeral one and zero. Answers with anything else are not correct.
