Notes from the team:

This session is sponsored by Arkansas Valley Radio Club

Location: Rocky Ford Fire Department Meeting Room 300 S Main St, Rocky Ford, CO 81067

Please enter the building from the double doors on the west side, take an immediate left into the meeting room. Please arrive promptly because we only have one hour to conduct the exam.

NOTE: Technician exams are now using the 2026-2030 question pool.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED - WALK-INS ARE ALLOWED. If you intend to walk-in for the exam please arrive extra early so we can make sure your are all good to go. We will start testing proptly at the published time and do not want to distract the other test takers with late arrivals, people who are unprepared, etc.

Exam will be conducted on an electronic device which will be provided Candidates please bring the following items:

  • A government photo ID (driver's license, military ID or passport)
  • FCC Registration Number (FRN); if you do not have an FRN, please visit the FCC website to obtain an FRN before the test session (https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do?)
  • You may bring a blank sheet of paper, pencil, eraser, and a simple calculator if desired.
  • Make sure you're ready to pass the exam. We recommend the use of hamstudy.org or Ham Radio Prep to study, and then when you are regularly scoring about 85%, you are ready for your exam.
  • A paper or electronic copy of your current or expired license for upgrades or reinstatements

There is NO FEE for our testing. This does not mean there is no fee to the FCC. Keep in mind that our time is somewhat limited. One session will allow you to take the intended exam and if passed and you are prepared to pass it, the subsequent exam, e.g. pass the Technician exam and then take the General exam, but we discourage taking the time to try the next one “for the heck of it”. Also, if you fail the exam you may be able to retake the exam, but a retest requires a sufficient probability of passing (first exam was >60%) and sufficient time for the VEs.

While there is no minimum age To obtain a ham license Federal law specifies that parents or guardians of those under 13 provide written consent for the minor to access online services. Please contact the Session Manager for COPPA information.

Please bring the following to the exam:

A photo identification

Simple calculator if desired
