Exam Overview

The exam session is being held following an in person hybrid Technican Training Class being held on October 12.

The IN PERSON exam is open to all and will be held at the Berks County Fire Training Center on October 12th starting at 2PM. This is open to anyone, even those who have not taken the training class. So If you already have a Technican or General class and want to upgrade, or if you self studies and are ready to take your Technician Exam then this exam session is OPEN to you.

If you would like to register for the In Person Technican training class which will be held October 5 and October 12 starting at 8:30 AM and ending at 4:00, please contact the coordinator listed at the bottom of this notification.

For the exam, please arrive as close to 2:00PM as possible as the exam will start promptly at 2:30PM.

What to Bring

Bring the following to the exam:

One government issued photo ID or two forms of Photo ID's as directed on the ARRL webpage

• A few #2 pencils with eraser
• Pen (to sign forms)
• A non-programmable calculator if required, cell phones are not permitted
• An offical copy of your Amateur Radio license (if you have one)
• Check made payable to Reading Radio Club or $15 cash (over 18) and $5 cash/check for those under 18.

FRN Number

You must have an FCC Registration Number (FRN#) from the FCC prior to registering for the exam.

To obtain an FRN# you need to:

Create a CORES account with the FCC (if you have not already done so). Sign into your CORES account. Select "Register New FRN" and follow the instructions. Once your registration for the exam is complete, you will receive an email and one of the Volenteer Exminaineers will contact you to answer any questions.
